Esra Çon Yılmaz was born in Samsun/Turkey in 1979. After her graduation from Samsun Anatolian High School, she received her B.A. and M.A.degree in History from Boğaziçi University. She wrote her masterthesis on one of the Ottoman Women’s Journal, Süs (1923-1924). Currently she is about to have PhD degree from İstanbul Medeniyet University by working on her Phd dissertation about Oral History Methodology. Shespeaks English and able to read Ottoman Turkish. She specialises in historiography, oral history, memory, self-narration, cultural and social history and women’s history with in these contexts.
