Ebru Sönmez completed her undergraduate education at History Department of İstanbul University. She received her first M.A. in History from Istanbul University in 2001, and second one from Boğaziçi University in 2006. This book based on her master thesis completed at Boğaziçi University. During her education between the years 1998 and 2009, she involved in a series of research projects commissioned by the Social and Economic History Foundation of Turkey, (Tarih Vakfı) “Monopoly in the Ottoman State”, “Beer in Anatolia”, and “Antalya Urban Museum Project’ . In 2010, she taught History of Atatürk’s Principels and Revolutions at Düzce University. She is currently pursuing her doctoral studies in the Department of History at Bilkent University.
